“Female” is a contemporary dance piece in which the body of a woman is the core of the dramatic and choreographic composition.  The work evolved by investigating physical, corporal guidelines which reflected different femenine identities and their development. As the prolongation of femenine attributes the skirt and the high-heeled shoes have gained the importance to emphasize various aspects of the femenine gender constructed socialy. The body spins around and extends through the skirt what elicits a game in which the costume covers and reveals different parts of the body in order to highlight each one of them. As a result of the exploration of the movement guidelines there have emerged images with a sypmbolic and emotional content that refer to: ingenuousness, sexim, stereotypes, flirting, liberation, independency, strength, integrity and delicatness of a female. “Female” is a corporal reflection about the limitations and the power of the different facets of the roles that we play in our lives.

“I spin around, breathe and get lost in the spin, in the absurd vortex of repetition, in the repetition of life that overcomes me and makes me collapse. I show up dressed in red, as a circus woman of infinite legs, with high-heeled shoes that harm me, feeling uncomfortable and stereotyped. Jaded and wore out I dazzle in a nude simplicity, my real home.”
